The amount has been granted to Syed Ibrar Kanwal in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of journalism despite physical disability. The Prime Minister called upon the people, government institutions, civil society and philanthropists to make consistent and resolute efforts for providing equal opportunities to special persons for their active participation in national life.
He also approved a proposal made by Syed Ibrar Kanwal for provision of seven laptops to physically hampered journalists so that they could be facilitated in discharging their professional work. The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the federal government as well as the provincial governments would take solid steps for providing an enabling environment for special persons and take into account their needs.
